SKATE SAFE AMERICA
“ADULT PLAYER ELIGIBILITY RULES”
- Maximum roster size is 16, 15 skaters and a goalie
- Once a team is paid in full, all any new player needs to do is make sure they acquire AAU insurance and be checked in at the front desk before playing their first game.
- ALL players must check in with the front desk before every steeping on the playing surface for a game. At this time, they will be rostered on the website
- Names put on pre-season roster sheet are not considered rostered players, nor are players who have played in previous seasons. Each season is unique and players are responsible.
- If a player has played a game, but has not checked in and added themselves to the roster, it will be considered and illegal player. This rule is to prevent ringers on their roster for the playoffs.
- Every player must designate themselves with one specific and unique to the team jersey number to be recorder on the team official roster online
- Players without jersey may borrow a temporary jersey from the scorekeeper
- Anything except a matching team jersey or Skate Safe jersey WILL NOT BE PERMITTED
- All players must play a minimum of 2 games in the regular season to be playoff eligible. All players must play at least 1 game in each half of the season to be playoff eligible.
*These Rules are absolute and no special exceptions will be made in ANY case*
SKATE SAFE AMERICA- “HOUSE RULES”
*ALL League play at Skate Safe America will be governed by the rules outlined by AAU/USARS. The following exceptions and/or modifications to those rules are to be followed at Skate Safe. Rule books can be found at www.auhockey.org
4 on 4 – All youth divisions (unless otherwise advertised) are played 4 skaters, plus a goalie on each side
5 on 5 – All adult divisions (unless otherwise advertised) are played 5 skaters, plus a goalie on each side
Offsides- - All 5 on 5 adult games will play with a carryover offside rule. Whereas, the attacking team cannot pass the puck to a teammate over the center red line.
- Intentional offside will be ruled if a shot is taken on net while a teammate is in the offensive zone. Faceoff will be taken in the defensive zone.
Uniforms- The following applies at the discretion of the refs:
- All players must wear their league recorded jerseys. This is the jersey with the same number listed on the website. In a case where a team has custom uniforms and a player does not, a Skate Safe jersey must be worn.
- All players 17 and under must wear a helmet with a full cage. All players 18 & over must wear a helmet with a minimum of a half shield. Visors must be down fully. Players will be sent off.
- Hockey gloves are the only gloves to be worn during games, no ball type gloves allowed.
Skate/Wheels- At the start of a game, all available wheel slots on each skate must be filled, Goaltenders are permitted to have one slot open for straps.
Face-offs- Any puck directed at the net in the offensive zone that hits the goal frame and leaves the playing surface will result in an offensive zone face-off
Penalty Additions- The following will apply:
- Fighting is not tolerated and will result in a maximum of a 5-game suspension
- THREE contact penalties result in a game ejection. Conduct penalties do not include misconduct penalties. Double minors result in TWO penalties towards the three-penalty ejection
- Delay of Game- The following are conditions for a delay of game:
- The team is not ready to play 5 minutes after the official game time. A two-minute penalty will result and 5 minutes will be given to be ready, after which game will result in a forfeit if not ready.
- Puck over the glass. The following applies:
- Puck over the high glass in the defensive zone is an automatic delay of game
- Puck over the glass in the defensive zone, while on the penalty kill, is an automatic delay of game
- Puck over the low glass during even strength will result in a warning the first time. All automatic penalties are considered a warning. All additional times will result in a penalty
Overtime/Shootouts- All none championship games will be decided, after regulation, by a 3 man shootout if the games in a tie. All championship games will lay a full sudden death overtime periods until a winner is decided.
- After the first 3 shooters, any player can shoot on a team
- The home team (as listed on website) will determine which teams shoot first.
